And the sweet nostalgia of revisiting a familiar scene, a fleeting scent, a wayward touch that instantly transports you across space and time to a moment among moments when you knew in your heart and soul that you really, truly, lived ? I hope that you will enjoy this journey with me as I venture forth to DYScover all the wonders our world has to offer, and that it will inspire you to head out the door on your own magnificent journeys. Greek Islands 2009 Day 10 - Mykonos : Arrival, Mykonos Town

The next morning we checked out after breakfast and the hotel arranged a drop off back into Parikia for our Hellenic Seaways ferry into Mykonos. Journey time was 40 minutes, and since this was a catamaran, unlike the previous trip, the only option was to stay indoors.

We arrived at the port where the hotel pick up was waiting for us, and we were whisked away, arriving precisely 5 minutes later outside the Cavo Tagoo hotel.

When we were doing our research on hotels in Mykonos, we fell in love with this one, especially because of the private infinity pools with the deluxe rooms, and Murat was able to get us a good rate. Its a hip, stylish place, with lots of luxe and oomph factors, the most "in" place we would be this trip.

It was already lunchtime, but we did not want to trudge into town, preferring to spend the afternoon in the pool, so we headed down to the restaurant for lunch. Pricey but good, with a great atmosphere.

Back to the room, and after a short break, into the pool. Quite cold, but refreshing nevertheless, and those endless views.

After our swim, we decided to head into town, specifically to the famous windmills, for sunset. While we waited for the complimentary shuttle into town, which is about a 15 minute walk away, we walked around the hotel property.

The sun was already nearly gone byt he time we were dropped off at the start of the pedestrian area of the town. The back streets of Mykonos are a real maze and we took a while to find our way to the windmills.

Once there, we got a great view of the Little Venice area, as well as the windmills, bathed in the rays of the setting sun, and after a while, it was time for the nearly full moon rise over Mykonos.

Mission accomplished, we wandered back into town, and walked around the back streets, browsing the many shops. Almost every second one is a jewellery store, wonder who buys all this stuff. But with gold prices going the way they are, no harm in holding inventory either, I guess.

We ended up at Baci for an Italian meal, and then walked around the far side of Little Venice to see the famous Paraportiani church. We returned to the main crossroads and took a taxi back to the hotel, cost about 3 Euros.

Cavo Tagoo's lit up pool could be seen from from away as we approached the hotel. The picture honestly does not do justice to how beautiful the property looked.

We watched a bit of news on TV, getting to see English news after many days, before heading for deep sleep.
