About Me

Hi ! I'm Dimple. A very warm welcome to my travel blog. I started this endeavor to make life easier answering all the questions and queries about what I love to do more than anything. Over time this simple enumeration of basic facts has morphed into an attempt to relive each and every amazing moment by trying to recapture the magic. Remember how it felt to see or do something amazing for the very first time ? The sense of awe, the thrill, the spellbound silence, the heady sense of accomplishment ? And the sweet nostalgia of revisiting a familiar scene, a fleeting scent, a wayward touch that instantly transports you across space and time to a moment among moments when you knew in your heart and soul that you really, truly, lived ? I hope that you will enjoy this journey with me as I venture forth to DYScover all the wonders our world has to offer, and that it will inspire you to head out the door on your own magnificent journeys. Thanks for visiting.

Greek Islands 2009 Day 8 - Paros : Arrival, Naoussa village

We had a lazy start the next morning and the focus was beach time, starting with breakfast on the beach.

Followed by lounging by the beach.....

......wading into the crystal clear, and very shallow water, followed by a swim.

What my husband calls the new "Colossus of Rhodes"

After a refreshing start to the day, it was time to say farewell to Naxos, and we were more than a little sorry to be off. We loved Naxos, but other idyllic islands awaited. We picked up our stuff , walked to the ferry pier and waited for our Hellenic Seaways ferry to Paros.

The one hour journey was smooth enough to warrant staying out on deck, and within no time we were docking in Parikia on Paros.

The hotel Stelia Mare in Naoussa village, where we were going to be staying had arranged a pick up for us, and within 20 minutes of disembarking from the ferry, we were pulling up outside the entrance.

Murat had worked his magic again, and we upgraded into a suite, which was large and comfortable. We dumped our stuff, and set off to explore.

The Stelia Mare is a 10 minute walk from the centre of the village, and the sun was at its zenith as we made our way into town. Naoussa had all but closed down for the season, so we were rewarded with empty streets, white washed charm, and only Greece's famous cats for company.

We managed to find a taverna by the harbour which was open for lunch. The focus was obviously seafood, but I was able to get some veggie appetisers and french fries.

After lunch, we walked around the main harbour, taking in the sights, but clearly, the heydays of the summer season were almost over.

It was time for our usual siesta so we headed back through the winding streets to the hotel. Even the cats seemed to have vanished.

As we were heading back, this weird cloud formation presented itself, and reminded me of the "all seeing eye" from the Lord of the Rings.

We awoke refreshed from our nap, and made our way back into the village for dinner at a traditional greek taverna called Glaros. After dinner we walked around a little before heading back to the hotel. It was our laziest day yet.
